Walking just outside of town we will visit the boys’ orphanage that is home to the official shrine to Guadalupe for the area.

Next door is a museum dedicated to the life of the founder of the orphanage, Jose Mojica.  Fr. Mojica had a fascinating life as an opera singer, Fox Studio movie star and bestselling author before dedicating his life to helping the poor in Peru.

On our gambol back to town we’ll visit the huge factory that until the early 1990s was our largest employer.  Today it is home to antique stores, galleries and lots of food.

This is a two hour tour costing 300 pesos or 15 USD.
